There are several things to consider when choosing a fabric. First and foremost is how you want the fabric to look. But just as important is how you want the fabric to feel and function.

Some basic points to consider are:

-Where is this fabric going to be located? Inside or outside? Kitchen or bedroom?

-How durable does the fabric need to be? Lightly used throw pillows? Or a much loved dog bed?

-Will my body be in contact with this fabric? Soft to the touch or only for decoration?

-How safe is this fabric? This may seem like an odd question to ask about fabric. Unfortunately many common household fabrics are heavily treated with harmful chemicals such as flame retardants and waterproofing agents. Luckily there are companies out there that are making comparable fabrics that are not chemically treated and are manufactured in a more sustainable way, therefore they are much safer for your health and kinder to the environment. Take a moment to check out the links I have listed for more information.
